One Stick is Easy to Break (2025)
Fakenham Gasworks Museum
Fakenham, Norfork
7 August – 31 October 2025
Behind an unassuming frontage on Hempton Rd in Fakenham lies the last remaining gasworks in England and Wales. It’s a fascinating place to visit and if you haven’t already been, you really should. Not only is this a remarkable piece of history, but it now also houses a collaboration between the museum and myself, namely my MA degree show installations. These were a body of work produced as a response to the gasworks and shine a light on the significance and history of these gasworks and the wider labour movement.
The artworks are positioned at various points around the museum, so now not only can you view this remarkable historical site, but you can also take the time to engage with the art work in situ.
By clicking here you can see the work installed in a studio space at Anglia Ruskin University’s Cambridge School of Art. Does installing site responsive work at the site give it added urgency and legitimacy or does the studio setting give it more artistic gravitas? That’s for you to decide.
